Instilling a Biblical news heuristic in kids and teens

Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.

—Proverbs 22:6

As host of WORLD’s video current events program, WORLD Watch, I’m in awe of what God has done and continues to do through God’s WORLD News magazines. These past 40 years have proved that the news does not have to be scary territory for families with young children.

Through both pages and screens of all types, we strive to deliver news that the whole family can discover together. What that really means: providing current events materials that build news literacy, critical thinking, and most importantly, Biblical discernment in our children and teens.

Although our primary goal is to equip the next generation and train them up in the way they should go as the Bible instructs, we believe that our journalism can inform people of all ages.

In a time when isolated activities are so prevalent, every family member can come together and flip through a magazine or view a program in order to be reminded of how God is working in the world. And teachers in Christian schools and homeschools who are seeking materials to supplement curriculum can rely on our resources to safely and Biblically fill that current events gap. Ultimately, we want to support you in your educational endeavors as brothers and sisters in Christ and keep the “world” part of our “worldview” in mind.

And remember: Whatever the news, the purpose of the Lord will stand.
