KELSEY REED:
If you’re discipling kids in today’s world, you probably feel overwhelmed by the news. Let’s slow down. I’m Kelsey Reed, News Coach for God’s WORLD News. I’m a seminary-trained educator, wife, mom of three, and most importantly, a follower of Christ. We’re here to come alongside you as you have the important conversations of life, faith, and culture with your kids and students.
JONATHAN BOES:
And I’m Jonathan Boes, Multi-Media Editor for God’s WORLD News. This January, we’re launching Concurrently: The News Coach Podcast. Every week, we’ll take time to stop, think, and learn together as we engage with the world around us. How do you help the kids and students in your lives engager with what’s going on in the world?
KELSEY:
How do you help them develop news literacy and cultivate biblical discernment?
JONATHAN:
And what does it mean to disciple them through the news with discernment instead of anxiety?
KELSEY:
We’ll answer your questions, offer ideas and resources, and hear from other parents and educators.
JONATHAN:
We want to identify the best tools and practices for establishing a non-anxious learning environment.
KELSEY:
How do you talk to your kids about war? About identity politics? We live in a world that pushes us to react to the news instantly.
JONATHAN:
So how can we instead teach the kids and teens in our lives to cultivate a reflective biblical response to current events, instead of passively accepting the news or simply reacting?
KELSEY:
Today’s world can feel overwhelming. Let’s press pause together and learn concurrently.
JONATHAN:
